- Nalwalker reviewed the purpose of the SCC for the new members discussing the TSSP, math and science goals and climate goals. J. Nalwalker shared that the school builds the plan internally, then the plan is presented to the SCC with opportunity for refinement if necessary. Then the SCC will approve the final plan
- Nalwalker discussed the land trust budget and TSSP budget and how they can be spent. The bulk of the money pays for behavior systems, social workers and reading interventions. The SCC is involved in school safety issues and SCC is also representative of the students and parent interests and shares those with the group. The SCC also helps the teachers and finds creative ways to ensure the teachers have time to assist the students and instead bring in parent volunteers.
The SCC is district training that is required for SCC members. The SCC members are all required to attend the training.
Next task is to vote in a chair. The chair was discussed as the individual who runs the meeting, sends the agenda each month, coordinates with Jeff on what the agenda is each month. Additionally the recorder takes the minutes each month and sends those to J. Nalwalker.
One of the SCC members had questions regarding the training required for SCC members. The question was related to how the chair runs the meetings and what is required in terms of time commitments. J. Nalwalker explained briefly the formal rules of voting and agenda planning.
ACTION – J. Nalwalker will send out the training opportunities dates to the group via email.
ACTION – J. Nalwalker will send the SCC handbook to the SCC team. That handbook describes how the voting is held.
