May's Message

May is our testing month. We do our best not to let it become overwhelming for the students but as a whole, the school spends much of the month with one class or another testing. It is very important that your students attend school everyday this month. Unless they are too sick to be here please do your best to have them here every day, on time. If they miss a testing day then we have to pull them out of another activity in order to make it up and they do not think that is very fun. It is MUCH better if they can just take the tests with the rest of their class.

We have so many fun activities coming up at the end of the year. Remind your students that school is not over even though there will be some fun activities. We will be doing important work all the way up through the last day of school. I know it is more difficult to get your children into bed early as the sun stays up longer but please try to make sure they get plenty of sleep. Staying on the school schedule throughout the rest of the year is very important.

As you look forward to this summer be sure to plan some great reading time with your children. The more they read this summer, the better prepared they will be for school next year. If you need help knowing what books to check out at the library, check with your child’s teacher. They would be more than happy to give you some ideas. Butler is a great school with great teachers who want nothing more than to see your children successful!
